Dr. André Domche is a
parasitologist and medical entomologist dedicated to advancing the elimination
of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) through innovative, evidence-based
research. With more than a decade of experience spanning laboratory
investigations, field epidemiology, and vector surveillance, his work focuses
on vector-borne NTDs, particularly onchocerciasis, lymphatic filariasis, and
human African trypanosomiasis (sleeping sickness). His research lies at the
intersection of ecology, public health, and disease control, with a strong
emphasis on translating scientific evidence into practical interventions.
Trained at the University of Yaoundé I and the University of
Montpellier, Dr Domche has coordinated large-scale entomological surveillance
programmes and led multidisciplinary field teams in high-transmission settings
across Central Africa. He is recognised for pioneering the “Slash and
Clear” approach, an innovative, environmentally sustainable vector control
strategy designed to reduce blackfly breeding and accelerate the elimination of
river blindness in persistent transmission hotspots. His research has resulted
in numerous peer-reviewed publications in leading international journals and
has been recognised through prestigious fellowships and awards from
organisations including the European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials
Partnership (EDCTP), the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene
(ASTMH), and the African Research Network for Neglected Tropical Diseases
(ARNTD). Combining scientific rigour with strong analytical, leadership, and
communication skills, Dr Domche is committed to developing impactful solutions
that strengthen disease control programmes and improve the health of vulnerable
communities.
