Dr. Guy R. Njitchouang is a Research Scientist
with the Molecular and Computational Cell Biology (MUTATE) Research Group at
the Translational Research and Development Foundation (TREND Foundation) in
Yaoundé, Cameroon. He is a Cameroonian biochemist and molecular biologist
specialising in the molecular epidemiology and biology of neglected tropical
diseases (NTDs), with a research focus on understanding the complex
interactions that shape parasite transmission, persistence, and disease
outcomes. Dr. Njitchouang holds a Ph.D. from the University of Yaoundé I and
has developed expertise in investigating host-vector-parasite-symbiont
interactions, particularly in human African trypanosomiasis and human filarial
infections. His research integrates molecular biology, epidemiological
approaches, and pathogen–vector biology to uncover mechanisms influencing
disease dynamics and identify opportunities for improved surveillance,
diagnostics, and control strategies. He has led and contributed to several
national and international research initiatives, including projects supported
by the Programme for Improving the Value of Innovation in Vector Control
(PIIVeC), and has established productive collaborations with leading research
institutions, including the INTERTRYP research unit of the French National
Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD), Montpellier. His work has
contributed to more than 15 peer-reviewed scientific publications in
international journals. Within MUTATE Research Group, Dr. Njitchouang
contributes to advancing research on pathogen biology, molecular epidemiology,
and host–parasite interactions, supporting the group’s broader mission to
generate mechanistic insights into infectious diseases and translate scientific
discoveries into innovative solutions for public health in Africa and globally.
