Prof. Missoup is an integrative
systematist specializing in molecular phylogenetics, biogeography, and African
tropical biodiversity. His research explores species delimitation, evolutionary
diversification, and the complex relationships between biodiversity,
conservation, and health. Building on extensive studies of African small
mammals, he integrates morphological, molecular, ecological, and
biogeographical approaches to investigate patterns and processes shaping
biological diversity. His research has progressively expanded to include
diverse taxonomic groups, conservation genetics, wildlife trade traceability,
and zoonotic disease surveillance within a One Health framework. Through this
multidisciplinary approach, Prof. Missoup contributes to advancing knowledge of
evolutionary processes, biodiversity assessment, and the development of
science-based strategies for conservation and public health. His work bridges
fundamental research and applied solutions, supporting sustainable management
of biological resources and strengthening understanding of the links between
ecosystems, wildlife, and human well-being.
