Dr. Maxime D. Mbogning Fonkou is a postdoctoral
researcher at Simon Fraser University and a Research Fellow with the Molecular
and Computational Cell Biology (MUTATE) Research Group at the Translational
Research and Development Foundation (TREND Foundation). His work lies at the
intersection of biomedical research, data science, and technology, with a focus
on developing innovative approaches to understanding and navigating the rapidly
expanding landscape of scientific knowledge. With a PhD in Human Pathology from
Aix-Marseille Université, he has contributed to research spanning microbiome
science, infectious diseases, and global trends in biomedical innovation. His
current work focuses on leveraging large-scale scientific datasets, including
publications, patents, preprints, and research funding information, to uncover
patterns of discovery, collaboration, and emerging research opportunities.
Passionate about open science and the transformative potential of artificial
intelligence in research, Maxime develops data-driven analytical frameworks,
interactive dashboards, and science communication tools that enhance the
accessibility, interpretation, and strategic use of scientific information.
Through the integration of computational methods and biomedical insights, his
work supports evidence-informed decision-making, research evaluation, and the
development of new approaches for accelerating scientific discovery. Within
MUTATE Research Group, he contributes to advancing computational and
knowledge-driven approaches for infectious disease research, supporting the
group’s mission to harness data, technology, and interdisciplinary innovation
to address complex biomedical challenges in Africa and globally.
