Christian Tchana Ngacheu is a PhD
candidate in Population Biology and Ecology at La Rochelle University and the
Centre for Biological Studies of Chizé (CEBC–CNRS), France. His doctoral
research examines how agricultural practices, particularly pesticide use and
organic farming, influence host-parasite interactions, avian health, and the
emergence of zoonotic disease risks in farmland specialist birds. By
integrating field ecology, parasitology, ecotoxicology, and advanced
statistical modelling, his work seeks to understand how agricultural
intensification affects wildlife health and pathogen transmission, providing
evidence to support biodiversity conservation and One Health approaches to
disease prevention. Christian holds a Master’s degree in Biodiversity, Ecology
and Evolution, specializing in Integrative Biology of Interactions, from the
University of Montpellier (France), and a Master’s degree in Zoology from the
University of Yaoundé I (Cameroon). His previous research has explored avian
malaria, parasite-mediated effects on plumage coloration, conservation ecology,
and bird phenology, reflecting a strong interdisciplinary background in
wildlife biology and disease ecology. His research interests encompass disease
ecology, zoonotic diseases, conservation biology, ecotoxicology, and the
impacts of global environmental change on wildlife health and pathogen
transmission dynamics. As Deputy Group Leader of the ZONES Research Group,
Christian is committed to advancing interdisciplinary research that bridges
ecology, epidemiology, and public health to strengthen integrated disease surveillance
and promote evidence-based conservation and One Health solutions.
